Your wellbeing checklist for 2022

December 28, 2021
This is some text inside of a div block.

2022 is a few weeks away, and it is the perfect time to reflect on everything that 2021 has brought us in terms of changes relative to the way we work, our outside world interactions and our own wellbeing. The pandemic, along with the hybrid work model transition have changed the way we balance our work and our personal life. Being stuck at home for months, we all had to figure out new ways to prioritize our wellbeing and set boundaries to protect ourselves from burnout.

The goal of this new year is to maintain the healthy habits we have established, and carry on with our digital wellbeing journey towards work/life balance in order to reach optimal productivity without compromising our wellness in the process.

So whether you are trying to start a new wellbeing journey or continue improving what you have already acquired, here are some tips for you to start your year on the right track.

  1. Reflect on the past

Before you start thinking about what you are going to do, take some time to reflect on what you have done so far. It’s true that this year has challenged our standard norms of work, school, going on vacation and overall work-life balance, but still, it also helped many of us appreciate the little things and precious moments we spend with our families. So to all the parents who have been homeschooling their kids while being on endless zoom calls, we see you and we acknowledge your efforts!  You’ve done well!

Now it’s time to celebrate those achievements, take the good habits with you and revise the ones you want to change, moving forward.

  1. What can you do today that your future self will thank you for?

Think about yourself one year from now. What goals would you like to have accomplished?

The most important thing? is to set for yourself goals that are doable and that are meaningful to you. Many resolutions are not meaningful enough for us, and that is why we fail to achieve them.

Once you have set up your goals, think about your game plan. How are you going to achieve them? How will you measure your progress and success?

Break down your plan into small steps and goals and celebrate each win as you progress towards your wellbeing journey. Also, consider the different ways that can make you reach your goal and find what is most suitable for you. There are paths that will lead to the same result, so find the right one for you.

  1. Do one thing at a time and don’t give up

When setting up your resolutions, remember to work on it, one resolution at a time.

Keep in mind that it takes between 18 and 254 days for a new habit to become automatic and part of your routine. And trying to implement different habits at the same time will make this process longer and more difficult. So focus on one thing at a time. Once you have acquired a new habit, you can move on to the next one.

Starting everything at once is the fastest way to failure. Remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint. So take your time, and make sure to

Define a way or scope a tool to measure your progress towards achieving your goals. For instance, at Veamly, we love using the Veamly lite app in order to track daily productivity and get accurate insights and recommendations on our wellbeing.

  1. Start today

You don’t have to wait for the new year to start improving your wellbeing. Whatever it is you are intending to do, start doing it today. Reading one page of your favorite book or calendar blocking your focus time to boost productivity are small things with big impact that you can kick off at any moment. So set your intentions, day by day and set yourself for success starting now.

If you are not sure where to begin, we have compiled a digital wellbeing booklet that covers different aspects of our wellness to guide you on a weekly basis towards your journey of implementing new habits, starting your day on the right foot and setting yourself for success.

You now have the key elements to making your new year’s resolutions happen. Start by reflecting on these past twelve months, then set up your wellbeing goals for the next year, and your plan of accomplishing them. Keep it personal, doable and measurable. Start now, with one thing at a time and don’t give up if you fail, as you can always start over.

Most importantly, remember that these resolutions are an act of self-care towards yourself to achieve your best version possible that is balanced, successful and mindful of its wellness.

Until then, enjoy the holiday celebration with your loved ones and have a wonderful new year!
